Year 7 Concert 2024
This week's Year 7 concert was a joyous celebration of live music and showcased the incredible talents and enthusiasm of our youngest students. The audience was treated to a wonderful mix of songs, solo performances, and an impressive orchestral arrangement, all highlighting the success of our fantastic Year 7 music scheme. This unique programme allows every student the chance to learn a new instrument from scratch during their first year at King's.
Thanks to generous donations from the Squires family and funds raised by our parent and teacher association, KHAPS, each student has her own instrument to take home, practise on, and develop her musicianship skills. We hope this experience ignites a lifelong passion for music in many of them!
Mr Albrighton, King's High's Director of Music, commented, 'The Squires family have historic links to the school and chose to support our Year 7 music scheme in memory of mother, Margaret Stone, who attended King’s High as a student herself 100 years ago. Observant students will have spotted the Margaret Stone practice room in the music block, named in recognition of the family’s previous support, and we are delighted they decided to mark the centenary milestone of her completing her studies at King’s High herself in this way.'
