Outstanding effort at the Foundation Gala Concert

On Thursday, 28 November, Butterworth Hall provided the backdrop for a wonderful evening of music at our Foundation Gala Concert.

Music always proves to be a way of connecting people, and that has never been more evident than on the evening, with musicians of all ages sharing their passion for the power of music. King’s High and the other Foundation schools were represented magnificently; pupils from Year 3 all the way through to Upper Sixth demonstrated their musical talent, with the exceptionally high level of performance showcasing that when we collaborate as a Foundation, the outcome is greater than the sum of its parts.

For the first time, we welcomed pupils from the schools who have partnered with us as part of a proposed MAT - including a performance from the choir of Evergreen School and the massed choirs of others.

The concert opened with O.B.1 Fanfare from The Ambrassadors, before we heard stellar performances from of New London Pictures from the Foundation Wind Orchestra, various songs from the choir of Evergreen School, and a performance of Christopher Tin’s Calling All Dawns from the massed choirs of Warwick Schools Foundation and proposed Mult-Academy Trust, and the Calling All Dawns Orchestra.

Following the interval, the Foundation Percussion Ensemble performed ‘The Storm’ from  Piano Sonata No.17, the Foundation String Ensemble performed Serenade for Strings, whilst the Foundation Symphony Orchestra closed the concert to meteoric effect with Polovtsian Dances.

Throughout the evening, there were some truly outstanding performances - both solo and ensemble - that wouldn't look out of place in a professional conservatoire; the evening was a true testament to the outstanding music provision across the Foundation, and all pupils and staff involved should be immensely proud.

It was fantastic to see so many parents on the evening to support their children and their peers, whilst enjoying a truly joyous display of music.

Huge thanks must go to all of the staff who worked tirelessly for such a long time to organise the event, whilst we would also like to thank Rosconn Group for kindly supporting the evening.

Undoubtedly, though, the night was all about the pupils - the true stars of the show, who all behaved and performed exceedingly well – the practice and hard work that they put in was truly reflected with such a fantastic display. All those involved should be immensely proud of themselves – they are a testament to themselves and our school.
