Flexi-Boarding
Flexible Sixth Form Boarding at King's High
We are delighted to introduce our Flexible Sixth Form Boarding option for the Summer Term, designed to support your daughter's academic, personal, and social development. This nurturing and structured environment enables students to make the most of their Sixth Form experience, while balancing A Level studies, extracurricular commitments, and university preparations.
Flexibility That Works for You
- Our flexi-boarding option offers families the convenience of avoiding long commutes during this critical stage of education. Boarding fosters independence, time management, and self-reliance, easing the transition to university or the workplace.
- The cost for flexible Sixth Form boarding is £50 +VAT per night, with a range of booking options available. Students can reserve stays in blocks of one or two nights per week, for a week or two at a time, or on an ad-hoc basis, subject to availability on a first-come, first-served basis.
- To ensure rooms are properly prepared, we require 48 hours' notice (school days) for bookings. Cancellations within this period will be billed at cost. All flexi-boarding stays will be added to parents' bills, and the option is available exclusively to current King's High students. Students tend to share rooms with one or two fellow boarders, and while we aim to accommodate preferences, private rooms cannot be guaranteed.
- Meals are included, with dinner served at 6.30pm and breakfast at 7.30am.
- A typical day for flexi-boarders includes an afternoon arrival and check-in after school, followed by study time in Way House or the Sixth Form Centre. Evenings feature structured prep sessions with academic support, along with recreation time to enjoy the fitness suite and sports facilities. Boarders also have time to socialise with fellow students before lights out in a calm, focused environment.
A Supportive & Structured Study Environment
We understand the demands of A Level study, from revision and coursework to university interviews and visits. Our flexible boarding option provides the structure and independence students need to thrive - without the full-time commitment of traditional boarding.
Boarders in Way House benefit from King’s High’s gold-standard pastoral care, with round-the-clock support from experienced staff, including two Heads of Year as boarding tutors and our Wellbeing Mentor as Assistant House Parent.
Students on study leave have access to:
- Work space in Way House throughout the day
- The Sixth Form Centre for independent or group study
- 1:1 academic support from teaching staff during the day
Evenings follow a structured prep routine, with time to relax and socialise. We recognise that downtime is just as important as focused study, so boarders have access to our state-of-the-art Sports Centre, including the fitness suite, in the evenings and at weekends. Many also enjoy preparing meals in our newly equipped kitchen, though dinner and breakfast are provided daily.
